2026 Cabbage Cup

As part of Kansas City's World Cup host city festivities, we're staging a Slavic-themed contest that's sure to get things rolling! Two teams compete in a head-to-head relay, dribbling a cabbage through an obstacle course to try and score the winning goal.

Contest Details

  • Two 4-person teams will be chosen at random to participate in the contest. Preference will be given to teams that register early.

  • One wild-card solo entry will be chosen to join each team.

  • If a team has no-shows, additional wild-card solo entries will fill the spots.

  • There is no cost to enter the contest. Regular Slavic Festival admission fees still apply.

  • Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, and agree to the contest terms and conditions.

  • The scheduled contest time is 6:45 pm on both Friday June 12th and Saturday June 12th.

Contest Terms

  • I understand that this is a voluntary, physically active contest taking place on pavement/asphalt and involves movement such as running, bending, kicking an object and quick directional changes.

  • I agree to follow all contest rules and instructions provided by festival staff, volunteers, and emcees at all time.

  • I agree to wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, or bare feet).

  • I understand that I am responsible for my own physical readiness to participate.

  • I acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks, including but not limited to slips, trips, falls, and minor or serious injury - and I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.

  • I agree to release, waive, and hold harmless the Sugar Creek Slavic Festival, the Sugar Creek Fair & Festival Board, the City of Sugar Creek, and all sponsors, organizers, staff, and volunteers from any and all liability, claims, or causes of action arising from or related to my participation in the contest.

  • If registering as a team, I confirm that I am authorized to register on behalf of my team, and I confirm that all team members have been informed of and agree to these contest terms.

  • I understand that contest format, timing, and participation are subject to change at the discretion of festival organizers.

  • I grant permission for photos and videos of the contest, including my participation, to be used for promotional purposes.
