Slavic-American Military Veterans
As part of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, we proudly honor Slavic-American military veterans whose service and sacrifice have strengthened our the nation we now call home. Their courage reflects a long tradition of patriotism, resilience, and public service within the Slavic-American community.
The 2026 induction into the North American Slavic Hall of Fame honors both nationally recognized veterans and those submitted by the community. It also marks the launch of the Slavic-American Veterans Wall of Honor - a living, online tribute representing generations of service rooted in faith, family, and freedom.
George P. Toma
Inducted to the North American Slavic Hall of Fame in 2023, George Toma is of Ukrainian heritage. At the age of 12, he began working on a farm and later started his groundskeeping career with the Wilkes Barre Barons, a farm team for the Cleveland Indians.
George was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class in the 105h Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. Following his military service, "The Sodfather” began a storied career as a groundkeeper for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, the NFL Super Bowl, FIFA World Cup and more.
